Hartford is the capital of the state of Connecticut in the United States, located in the north-central part of the state. For the past 22 years, a 70-year-old kind-hearted man in the city has gone out to feed stray cats near his home every night to prevent them from starving. No matter it is windy, raining or snowing, he has never been absent. The money he spent to buy cat feed was all his hard-earned money from recycling scrap metal.

Willie Ortiz, 76, started feeding cats in 1995. At that time, he felt sad when he saw a hungry stray cat begging for food, so he decided to start helping cats on the street so that they would no longer be hungry.
Every night around 7 o'clock, Ortiz would drive to the colony of stray cats with feed to feed them, rain or shine. When he steps out of the car and makes a sound, a swarm of waiting cats will come to him. He currently visits 16 feral and stray cat colonies every night and feeds a total of 68 cats.
In addition to feeding, Ortiz also cares about whether stray cats are injured or sick. If there were, he would take them for treatment. He wants to make sure these cats have what they need and can live a good life.
Every morning, he would go out to sell scrap metal. At night, he would go out to feed the cats. This was a life that made him happy.
However, not everyone understood what he was doing. He said people ask him why he feeds them every day or tell him not to feed them too much. And he replied: "You eat every day, don't you? You eat three meals a day, and they only eat one meal every 24 hours."
Ortiz said he will continue to do this as long as he can.
