Vaccinating dogs is not only responsible for the dog, but also for yourself. However, many people don’t know when dogs should be vaccinated against rabies. Let me give you a brief introduction. Friends who want to know can come and take a look.

Dogs can be vaccinated against rabies when they are three months old, and will be vaccinated again every 11 months thereafter. First of all, when the dog is two months old and everything is normal and there are no abnormal symptoms, the owner can take the dog to the pet hospital to be vaccinated against infectious diseases. A total of three shots will be given, with an interval of 21 days between each shot. After the third shot of vaccine is completed, the rabies vaccine can be given one week apart. Secondly, adult dogs need to receive one shot of infectious disease vaccine and one shot of rabies vaccine every year, with a one-week interval between each shot.

The rabies vaccine for dogs needs to be vaccinated once a year. For example, if the vaccination was on May 8 the year before, it needs to be vaccinated before May 8 the next year, and the vaccination cannot be postponed. Because the efficacy of the rabies vaccine we are familiar with is not permanent, it can only play a role for about a year at most. As time goes by, the effective substances in the vaccine will become less and less, and will eventually disappear. Without the protection of the vaccine, the dog will become susceptible to disease, so the rabies vaccine must be administered once a year.

Secondly, there are several points to pay attention to when dogs are vaccinated against rabies.

1. Do not bathe the dog for 7 days before and after the rabies vaccine. Otherwise, the dog may catch a cold, which may lead to a decrease in resistance and increase the risk of the dog being infected with germs.

2. Before vaccination, you need to observe the physical condition of the dog to see if there are any symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, etc. If there are symptoms, the vaccine cannot be administered. You need to wait until the dog returns to a healthy state before injecting the rabies vaccine.

3. Do not take your dog out to play when the vaccine is not fully vaccinated, because the body's antibody level is not high at this time and cannot resist the invasion of external viruses.

4. Because some dogs may be allergic to vaccines, it is best for vaccinated dogs to be observed in the pet hospital for about 15-20 minutes before leaving if there are no abnormalities.
