Arsenal reversed 2-1 away and beat Newcastle, and Arsenal's goal-winning hero Merino was interviewed after the game.
"As Bukayo (Saka) said, it's incredible to win such a game, and the final victory is the best moment. But from my point of view, this victory is even more meaningful: it's a great thing for me to go back to Newcastle home court. Here are my precious memories, which is a very special place in my life; and now it's so wonderful to be able to score goals and help the team win here. There's nothing more perfect than winning the final victory in the last minute, and I'm respectful. I like all my teammates."
He also mentioned the feeling of returning to the old home court: "Every time I come here, I am very happy to see old acquaintances and old friends. I have left many wonderful memories here. Although I have only played for a year, this is still an important part of my life and career. I returned here to score the winning goal, and I still headed the ball, the same goal as when I scored for Newcastle. This feeling was amazing."
When asked about it "Will this victory relieve the psychological pressure caused by 'not seizing the missed opportunities of other teams'?" Merino responded firmly: "Maybe this is true for fans or the media, but not for our team. We are very clear about how outstanding we have performed recently and we have been creating opportunities. Today's winning method shows the character of the team, how trusting each other and how confident we are. No matter what the outcome of the game, this belief will not change. We firmly believe that we have an excellent team, a strong lineup, an excellent coaching staff and a great fan, so we are ready to face the subsequent challenges."
