According to The Athletic, Premier League promoted Sunderland is negotiating with Chelsea on loan striker Jiwu.
report said that Sunderland is negotiating with Chelsea on a season-long agreement to loan forward Jiwu. The Athletic reported last week that Chelsea rejected some offers to buy the 19-year-old striker and tended to loan him to another England club.
At present, negotiations between the two clubs are still in progress and no agreement has been reached on the young player's transfer. Chelsea signed Jiwu last summer, and the contract between the two sides was in 2029.
The 19-year-old made 16 appearances last season (7 of which started) and scored 6 goals. He suffered an adductor injury in February this year and missed for more than three months. In this summer's Club World Cup, Jiwu received 41 minutes of playing time.
In this summer, Sunderland has signed seven players, including Zachar, Diyala, as well as wingers Adigra and Talby, but has not signed any forwards.
