The M5 MBP is postponed to the early next year, and the OLED M6 version may be further promoted

The new Apple M5 chip MacBook Pro, originally launched at the end of this year, may be postponed until its spring 2025 launch. According to the latest report by Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple has recently re-adjusted its product release plan, postponing the launch schedule of the M5 MacBook Pro until early next year, and may be released simultaneously with the iPhone 17e and other new products.

This change also means that it was reported that the MacBook Pro, which will use OLED screens and M6 chips, may be further delayed, and it will not be possible to find out until 2026 at the earliest.

Gurman said that Apple does not currently plan to update any Mac model equipped with M5 chips in 2024. Instead, the M5 version of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air will be released next spring, indicating that Apple may gradually break the previous annual upgrade rhythm. Compared with the release time of the M4 series MacBook Pro in October last year, this delay also highlights Apple's new adjustments to the chip update rhythm.

In addition, the M5 chip is also expected to be applied to the iPad Pro series, but the original expected spring time has been missed and no specific news has been issued yet. However, referring to past examples, for example, last year the M4 chip was launched on the OLED iPad Pro first and then extended to the MacBook Pro, and the M5 version of the iPad Pro may still appear this fall.

Transfer that Apple will have a wave of new product launches in early 2025, and expected to include:

It is worth noting that although the M5 version of MacBook Pro is only a routine upgrade, the subsequent M6 version is expected to undergo a greater change. As the market generally predicts, the M6 version of MacBook Pro will use an OLED screen, narrower frame and thinner body, bringing this series a significant visual and display technology update.

However, many analysts also pointed out that if the M5 model is delayed to 2025, in order to avoid the distance between new old products, Apple will have to delay the release schedule of the M6 OLED version, and the possibility of pushing it out until after 2026 has increased significantly.

The supply chain has not yet been clearly disclosed that the production process of the OLED MacBook Pro is, and relevant information still needs to be further observed and continued movement.
