Netherlands: Believe that Nexperia’s Chinese chips will be delivered within a few days

Dutch Economic Minister Karremans said that the Netherlands welcomes China’s announcement that it will resume supply from Nexperia’s Chinese factory. Given that talks with the Chinese authorities have been constructive, the Netherlands is confident that in the coming days, chips from China will be able to reach Nexperia customers in Europe and other parts of the world.

Nexperia’s split and deadlock came to light. The Dutch government issued a statement on the 6th local time. Vincent Karremans made the above remarks.

Karymans said that he has received notification from China and the United States on the recent economic and trade agreement, and welcomed China's announcement that it will resume supply from Nexperia's Chinese factory. This move will restore the global supply of these key traditional chips. This is consistent with the information provided by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce to the European Commission.

Karymans said that given the constructive talks with the Chinese authorities, the Netherlands believes that in the next few days, chips from China will be able to reach Nexperia customers in Europe and other parts of the world. The Netherlands will closely monitor and support these developments and take appropriate measures where necessary.

He said that the Netherlands will continue to maintain close contact with the Chinese authorities and will coordinate closely with the European Commission and international partners on this matter.

The Netherlands and China have a dispute over the ownership and control of Nexperia, resulting in a shortage of chip supply and causing chaos in the global automotive supply chain.

Reuters reported that Karemans took over Nexperia on September 30 due to concerns that its business would be transferred to China, where Nexperia's parent company Wingtech Technology is headquartered. The Chinese government took countermeasures on October 4 and banned the export of products related to Anshi’s China factories.

Automakers and auto parts dealers began applying to China’s Ministry of Commerce for exemptions this week. It is unclear whether any companies have received chips.

Nexperia's headquarters in the Netherlands stated on the 5th that it welcomes China's commitment to assist Nexperia's Chinese factories and subcontractors in resuming exports, thereby ensuring that key traditional chips can continue to be supplied to the global market. Expect more details on the conditions, criteria and procedures for easing export restrictions soon.

China's Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yadong stated on the 6th that China, in line with its responsible attitude towards the stability and security of the global semiconductor industry supply chain, has promptly approved relevant export license applications from Chinese exporters and exempted qualified exports in an effort to promote the resumption of supply by Nexperia (China).

He Yadong said that China hopes that the Dutch side will proceed from the perspective of maintaining the overall economic and trade relations between China and the Netherlands and China and Europe, as well as the stability and security of the production and supply chain, and meet China halfway in a responsible manner, stop interfering in the internal affairs of the company, and find a constructive solution to the Nexperia issue.
