OCBC Bank promotes smart text scaling function to help elderly people easily use mobile banking applications

At present, most mobile banking applications do not support direct text size adjustment within the application, and users can only adjust the font through the mobile phone system. OCBC's plan will automatically adjust the interface layout according to the font size selected by the user and the screen size of the mobile phone to avoid problems such as page confusion after adjusting the font.

Guo Siqiang, president of Global Consumer Financial Services Department of OCBC Bank, said: "About 40% of our active digital users are 60 years old and above, which shows that inclusive design is not only icing on the cake, but also imperative. Smart text scaling seems simple, but it is an important step we have taken on the road to digital inclusion."

This function was developed by nearly 100 engineers, designers and product managers in a year, and has redesigned hundreds of interfaces, including common functions such as account balance display, fund lock (Money Lock), and scanning code payment. 70% of the interface updates have been completed, and the remaining part is expected to be completed in the first half of next year.

OCBC (OCBC) announced that it will add smart text scaling function to mobile banking applications by the end of July, supporting English and Chinese interfaces. Users can freely choose seven font sizes, including larger fonts, which helps older people, those with vision limitations, or users who are not familiar with digital operations to use it more easily.

OCBC Bank said on Thursday (July 3) that this function is in line with Singapore's social development trend of "super aging" and is committed to promoting digital inclusion. This feature is also part of the OCBC SeniorCare. The total investment of this plan is US$2 million (approximately S$2.54 million), with the goal of supporting more than 180,000 elderly customers to enjoy a healthy and happy life.
